Medicinal wines were dropped from the United States Pharmacopoeia. The term "hard liquor" is generally objectionable because it reinforces the dangerous misperception that one form of alcohol is somehow "softer" than another. The sugar for wine usually comes from grapes (although other fruits are used, especially for homemade wine). For more discussion about the transition of flavor, look to the tequila-attempt at the end. There will be variables of course, but it will mostly be within a percent or two.

Such wine or beer may also be transported by the person, member or guest without being in violation of this part; provided, that the amount being transported at any one time shall not exceed five gallons.
